Event Overview
This foundational training session is designed to introduce participants to Microsoft OneDrive, with a focus on using screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS and voiceover. Participants will gain a clear understanding of OneDrive’s purpose as a cloud-based storage solution and will develop the skills necessary to navigate its web interface efficiently and independently. Through guided, hands-on instruction, this session will provide a supportive learning environment tailored to individuals who are new to OneDrive and rely on screen readers for computer access. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with the core competencies required to manage and organize their digital files with confidence.
Session Goals:
• To provide a clear conceptual understanding of OneDrive and its key features
• To introduce essential screen reader navigation techniques specific to the OneDrive interface
• To empower participants with practical file management skills in a cloud environment
• To build user confidence in using OneDrive independently for everyday tasks
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, the participant will be able to:
1. Articulate the purpose and benefits of using Microsoft OneDrive for file storage and access
2. Successfully log in to OneDrive via a web browser using a screen reader
3. Navigate the OneDrive web interface using standard screen reader commands, including headings, landmarks, and keyboard shortcuts
4. Upload files and folders to their OneDrive account
5. Create, rename, and organize folders for effective file management
6. Perform essential file actions, including opening, deleting, and moving files using the context menu
7. Utilize the built-in search and sort functions to efficiently locate stored content
